GatesAir Expands Digital Broadcast Standards Support for Next-Generation Exciter at IBC2026

Advanced signal processing platform unifies support for global DTV and DAB radio networks with future-ready software-defined architecture
Cincinnati, OH, August 05, 2026

GatesAir, will introduce international broadcast audiences to its next-generation Maxiva™ XTK software-defined exciter at IBC2026 (September 11-14, RAI Amsterdam), positioning the platform as the next-generation signal processing engine for its Maxiva family of digital television and DAB/DAB+ radio transmitters. Designed to support broadcasters across worldwide digital transmission standards, the Maxiva XTK combines exceptional signal processing power, advanced Transport over IP (TSoIP) capabilities and software-defined flexibility to simplify digital broadcasting today while preparing networks for tomorrow's transmission technologies.

Building on decades of GatesAir innovation, the Maxiva XTK delivers optimal signal quality across all major digital television standards worldwide, including DVB-T2, ATSC 1.0, ATSC 3.0, ISDB-Tb and Brazil’s emerging DTV+, while extending the same software-defined architecture to DAB and DAB+ networks. Its advanced FPGA-based platform significantly increases processing capacity and incorporates sophisticated Real-Time Adaptive Correction techniques that optimize signal performance across a wide range of RF amplifier configurations, ensuring reliable, high-performance operation for broadcasters regardless of network architecture.

Designed as the next-generation software-defined exciter for GatesAir's Maxiva transmitter portfolio, the XTK establishes a common technology platform that supports today's transmission requirements while creating a flexible foundation for future digital standards through simple firmware updates in the field. The modular architecture also provides a path for optional internal satellite and RF input capabilities, further extending the platform's long-term value.

"The Maxiva XTK represents the next evolution of our software-defined transmission strategy, bringing together greater processing power, advanced signal optimization and worldwide standards support within a single platform," said Steve Rossiter, TV Systems Applications Engineer, GatesAir. "Whether broadcasters are operating digital television or DAB radio networks, the XTK delivers the performance, flexibility and investment protection they need to confidently adapt to changing technologies while maintaining the exceptional reliability that defines every Maxiva transmitter."

The Maxiva XTK comes standard across GatesAir's newest Maxiva television transmitter platforms and is fully compatible with previous-generation Maxiva UHF and VHF transmitters, as well as many Harris legacy digital television systems. The platform's backwards-compatible design enables broadcasters to modernize signal processing while preserving existing transmission infrastructure, reducing upgrade costs and simplifying transitions to new digital standards.

Visitors to IBC2026 can experience the Maxiva XTK and GatesAir's portfolio of TV and radio solutions at Stand 8.B75, where the company will demonstrate technologies that improve transmission efficiency, simplify operations and prepare broadcasters for the next generation of over-the-air services.
